MEET THE TEAM

Dr. Randy Lehman

Dr. Lehman, MD, General Surgeon, obtained his undergraduate degree from Purdue University prior to attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Ultimately, Dr. Lehman followed his combined passion for rural America and his calling for general surgery to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he completed general surgery residency in the Rural Surgery Track in June 2020.

In 2021, on his birthday, Dr. Lehman realized a lifelong dream by purchasing the property that would become Liberty Clinic, located in his hometown of Rensselaer, IN. This move allowed him to establish an independent surgical practice dedicated to serving the local community.

Dr. Lehman's connections to the clinic have deep roots, starting from his childhood when he had pediatric appointments there. His mother, Ruth, contributed to the clinic's work in the records department. As fate would have it, Dr. Lehman met his wife, Brittaney, during a visit to the clinic where she worked as a Medical Assistant. Today, the couple is blessed with two children, Charlotte and Jack.

At Liberty Clinic, Dr. Lehman combines his extensive medical education and surgical expertise to provide essential services to the community that has been a part of his life's journey.

Dr. Melissa Cain

Dr. Melissa Cain. Originally hailing from Northwest Indiana, Dr. Cain attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by Family Medicine Residency at Ball Hospital in Muncie, where she developed a specific skill and passion for endoscopy. Since completing residency in 2009, Dr. Cain returned home to La Porte, Indiana, where she practices full-spectrum family medicine and performs endoscopy. She also has experience in urgent care and addiction medicine. Dr. Cain left corporate employment in 2018 to embark on a new adventure of a Direct Primary Care practice, where her patients enjoy concierge medicine with one hour patient visits. Colonoscopy and EGD are our #1 and #2 procedures performed at Liberty Clinic. Due to the increasing volume, Dr. Cain has committed to helping Dr. Lehman at Liberty Clinic on a part-time basis to perform endoscopy only at Franciscan Health Rensselaer (not primary care), and we are very grateful for her assistance. She brings the value of an experienced endoscopist, and she has already performed two endoscopy days this January in Rensselaer.Outside of her medical commitments, Dr. Cain is a devoted parent, actively involved in chauffeuring her two children to their numerous sporting events. In an effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle, she dedicates time to regular gym sessions and the practice of yoga.
